camera lucida [L.; lit. ‘light chamber’, after camera obscura]. Optics. An instrument by which the rays of light from an object are reflected by a peculiarly-shaped prism, and produce an image on paper placed beneath the instrument, whilst the eye at the same time can see directly the pencil with which the image is being traced.
Studium: "meanings that are nameable," "given cultural meanings that we understand at once" (44)
Punctum: "a personal memory based not on the public archive but a private repertoire," "stings the viewer...some detail (some accident in the photograph)" (44); "occurs when there is a match between a signifier in the scene (in the photograph), and a scene in the memory" (45)
Oh! The photo changed! I was drumming up some plant poem ideas and now I have to rethink. :)
